The Fifth Element

For this project, we were assigned to create an environment piece inspired by the universe of the sci-fi film, The Fifth Element.  I chose to explore and design the possible home world of Diva Plavalaguna, the elegant yet mysterious opera singer who plays a critical role in the film.

Studying the design and performance of the Diva, I felt that she comes from a rare alien race that lives on a secluded planet, away from fast-paced, city lifestyles. With that in mind, I saw the opportunity to utilize and reiterate the Ancient Egyptian culture and motifs (lightly touched in the actual film), and apply it to the Diva's race and homeland.

Above is the the final environment piece. While there's still room for improvement, this project definitely added a lot of mileage to my skill. Fairly pleased on how it turned out :)
